Beginning with a restricted movement repertoire, you’ll learn the simple holds, takedowns, bumps, submissions, strikes & transitions that form the essential building blocks of professional wrestling. Drawing on contemporary MMA techniques as well as shoot wrestling, grappling & groundwork - you’ll build up the kinaesthetic feedback necessary to handle others with care and work with a partner in the ‘dance’ of wrestling.

Class Objectives & Learning Outcomes:

  • Condition your body for landing, bumping & feeding in the ring

  • Build body control and learn how to use efficient footwork & stance

The Essentials of Wrestling

  • Develop the ability to work physically with others using simple touch signals

  • Gain the confidence to execute basic technical wrestling sequences

  • Explore submissions, strikes, kicks & basic moves

  • Introduce simple sequences to your repertoire

Who is it for?

This is a beginner class for novice & intermediate level wrestlers who have been wrestling for between 0-3 years. Students follow a structured syllabus and will be invited to take part in a grading when the student has demonstrated proficiency in all areas of the syllabus.

What do I need to bring?

Come in normal workout gear & trainers, but bring a spare t-shirt in case you get sweaty and a bottle of water to keep you hydrated. Once you know wrestling is for you, you will also need knee pads and wrestling boots.
