A NEW VISION FOR A BETTER FUTURE

By responding to the APPG Report, our aim is to amplify the voices of those who have experienced abuse within the wrestling scene & embed their message of ‘do no harm’ into a new ethical vision for the practice. Our vision for our training space is built on 3 key values:

Equality:

Provide equal & equitable opportunities for all our participants regardless of their protected characteristics. Make special & specific provision for the training & development of Women’s Wrestling through a programme of classes & workshops that deliver quality training to female & female-identifying wrestlers, as well as trans & non-binary wrestlers, delivering teaching in a way that is sensitive to the needs of non-cis male wrestlers.

Safety:

Ensure the safety & wellbeing of our wrestling trainees through strict adherence to concussion protocols, first aid provision, accident report logs, physical conditioning regimes & anti-discrimination & sexual abuse policies. Run a series of health & wellbeing campaigns for the British Wrestling Community to raise awareness of concussion risks in wrestling & the need for personal due diligence with regards to the medical insurance needs of wrestlers. Create a training environment that is free from sexual harassment & abuse of power.

Ambition:

Elevate the status of wrestling from ‘sports entertainment’ to performance art, while respecting the integrity, history & traditions of the practice. Contribute towards reimagining wrestling as a respected contemporary art form for the twenty-first century.
