Wrestling Fundamentals: New Starters 4-week Course

If you are completely new to wrestling, or have lost confidence and are looking for a beginner-level refresher course, then our 4-week fundamentals experience is for you. Meet new wrestling buddies, condition your body for the demands of wrestling and get familiar with the basics of wrestling so you can confidently move onto our popular Grade One sessions with positivity and a sense of ease.

Class Objectives & Learning Outcomes:

  • Condition your body for the demands of wrestling to minimise your risks of concussion

  • Learn how to jump, roll and land safely

  • Explore footwork and how to efficiently move around a ring

  • Try simple grappling techniques and basic technical wrestling sequences

  • Explore non-verbal communication signals to help push and pull a partner off balance

  • Begin the process of learning to calibrate what appropriate levels of physical contact feel like in professional wrestling

  • Experiment with kinaesthetic feedback, pain signals & partner work to understand how the ‘dance’ of wrestling relies on ‘knowledgeable touch’

  • Try basic strikes, kicks & bumps

  • Develop the foundational knowledge and confidence needed to join our Tuesday night & Saturday afternoon Grade One sessions

Who is it for?

Complete beginner & those who have tried professional wrestling before and would like a confidence boost before joining the Grade One training sessions. Wrestling fans welcome, this is a body positive workshop, no previous experience of wrestling necessary, all fitness levels welcome. If you love wrestling then we would love to have you.

What do I need to bring?

Come in normal workout gear & trainers, but bring a spare t-shirt in case you get sweaty and a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.
