WORRIED ABOUT...

"I've never done anything like this"

Good. Neither had most of our students. The New Starters course is built from the ground up for complete beginners — we start with the very basics and go at a pace that works for everyone.

WORRIED ABOUT...

"I'm not fit enough"

Everyone has to start somewhere! Our New Starters course gets your body ready for wrestling. All fitness levels welcome — modifications are always available. After 4 weeks you’ll be feeling fitter.

WORRIED ABOUT...

"Won't I get hurt?"

The first thing we teach is how to fall safely. Every progression is designed to put your safety first. PlayFight has the best equipped studio in the UK — safety isn't a bonus here, it's the foundation.

WORRIED ABOUT...

"Am I too old / wrong body type?"

Wrestling is for every body. Our students range from 18 to 40+, from every background and fitness level. This is a body-positive space — full stop. We just want you to get more confident while having fun.

YOU’LL SURPRISE YOURSELF

Four weeks sounds short. But the transformation our students go through in this course — physically, mentally, socially — is remarkable every single time.

Wrestling training does something no gym class can. It builds the kind of confidence that comes from learning to trust your body, trust another person, and do something that looked impossible two weeks ago.

📅 BEFORE THE COURSE

→ Never set foot in a wrestling ring

→ Nervous about contact and falling

→ Unsure if this is really "for me"

→ Don't know anyone in wrestling

→ Wondering if you're the right body type

⭐ AFTER 4 WEEKS

Moving confidently around the ring

Falling and bumping safely

Working sequences with a partner

Part of a community of performers

Ready for Grade One

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

★★★★★

I came in terrified — I'd never done any sport in my adult life. By week two I was rolling across the mat and loving every second of it. The coaches make you feel safe at every single step of the way.

★★★★★

I was 44 when I started. I thought I'd missed my window. Four weeks later I was doing things I genuinely thought were impossible for my body. Best decision I've made in years.

The New Starters course is the perfect on-ramp. Nothing is rushed, nothing is assumed. By the end of week four I felt genuinely ready for Grade One — and couldn't wait to start.

Got Questions?
We've Got Answers

  • Yes — all students complete a PAR-Q health form and a movement assessment before their first session. These are available on our website and help us make sure we're coaching you appropriately from day one. Links are in your booking confirmation.

  • Life happens. Please let us know as early as possible via bookings@playfightlondon.com. Each course builds on the previous week, so we'd encourage you to make every session if you can — but we'll always do our best to support you if you have to miss one.

  • You'll be ready to join our Grade One sessions — Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Grade One follows a structured syllabus working towards your Grade One grading, part of the world's only formal wrestling grading system.

  • We're at Unit 3, Submarine Cable Depot, Warspite Road, London SE18 5NX — about 10 minutes' walk from Woolwich Elizabeth Line station. Use What3Words: alien.bump.clear. Street parking is available on Warspite Road.

  • We don't offer drop-in spectator sessions, but we'd love to give you a tour. Email bookings@playfightlondon.com and we'll arrange a time that works.
